20021001 (Tuesday) Graffiti Door, After, Los Angeles
Same door as this.
I liked the sad cyclops pirate better.

20021002 (Wednesday) Fire Sprinkler Shut Off, Santa Monica
I cannot imagine that it is really necessary to label this thing so prominently.
I mean, under what possible circumstances am I going to be walking by this building and think, "Jeepers! I hope I can find the fire sprinker shut off, or..." or what?

20021003 (Thursday) Bravo One, Santa Monica
The star really ties the whole piece together.
It's so wonderful that we have so much public art on the streets of Southern California.
Works like this make me feel that my tax dollars are well spent.

20021004 (Friday) Marines Flag, Los Angeles
Someone stuck this small flag underneath a planter. Don't know why.
I like the shadowy quality of the light here, but the photo is awful.
I apologize.

20021005 (Saturday) Broken Blossom, Santa Monica
This is the parking lot at work.
This was taken on a Saturday.
I took the picture.
You do the math.

20021006 (Sunday) King Arthur's Carousel, Anaheim
Disneyland!
They went to refurbish the carousel in Fantasyland, and they found it was in worse shape than they thought.
So they've been rebuilding it.
It's been closed a long time, but it looks like it's coming along nicely now.

20021007 (Monday) MGM Sign, Santa Monica
Come on, admit it - you've always wanted to know what the back side of the MGM logo looked like, right?
Well, here it is, from their lot (well, it's not really a lot) in Santa Monica.
It's even labeled, just in case you forgot where you were.

20021008 (Tuesday) Trash Can, Santa Monica
It just seemed so out of place and lonely.

20021009 (Wednesday) Cone, Santa Monica
This is why I love black and white film.
Especially in my cheap plastic camera.
It makes even the mundane look so dramatic.

20021010 (Thursday) More Than Just A City In Rhode Island, Santa Monica
The other side of the sign said "More Than A TV Show".
Of course, the show got cancelled.

20021011 (Friday) You Must Learn How To Chew Nicotine Polacrilex Gum, Santa Monica
Uh, I know the picture is really blurry, but that's really what the tape says.
Running time: 11:20.
Personally, I wasn't aware that it was mandatory.

20021012 (Saturday) Bicycle Parking, Sherman Oaks
Apartment building next to the parking structure at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.

20021013 (Sunday) Couch, Santa Monica
Another Sunday at work?
This is a couple blocks from the office.
But I don't really remember why.

20021014 (Monday) Rolling Barbie Luggage, Santa Monica
I can imagine all sorts of scenarios be which this Barbie junior rolling flight bag might have been abandoned here along the side of the road.
None of them good.
Does that make me a pessimist?

20021015 (Tuesday) Yard Sale Now, Santa Monica
A bunch of the streets around here are named after universities.
This is the kind of thing that happens when city planners run out of street names.

20021016 (Wednesday) New Building, Century City
This new highrise is almost done being built.
It's going to redefine the Centry City skyline (which is pretty weak at the moment).
I think this is where MGM is going to move early next year.

20021017 (Thursday) Spout, Los Angeles
I saw this driving to work and just had to stop.
I wish I had a pinhole camera on me at the time.

20021018 (Friday) LAX
On my way to Fort Worth to visit my friend Chrissy.
The plane got delayed due to weather over the Dallas/Fort Worth airport.
But they didn't tell us until after we boarded.
So we sat on the grounded plane for 40 minutes or so.
This is the view from my window seat.

20021019 (Saturday) Mr. Sno-Cone Open 2-8, Fort Worth
Well, it was between 2 and 8, and it wasn't open.
Being the middle of October might have had something to do with this.

20021020 (Sunday) Runway Dresses, Fort Worth
We went to a flea market, at which there were a surprising variety of wares for sale.
Including these dresses, which were just posing for my camera.
Chrissy came up with the name.

20021021 (Monday) Dallas/Fort Worth Airport
They're expanding the already-large Dallas/Fort Worth airport.
Picture taken while waiting to go back home to L.A.

20021022 (Tuesday) Plant, Santa Monica

20021023 (Wednesday) Ghost, Santa Monica
My first paranormal sighting! I'm so excited!
This guy spent weeks haunting the front yard of this house.
And then after Halloween, he just went away.

20021024 (Thursday) Mattress, Los Angeles
Anyone need a mattress?
It looks to be in pretty good shape, and clean.

20021025 (Friday) I Don't Know What This Is, Los Angeles
Maybe it's a basketball backboard?
Or a very heavy flyswatter?

20021026 (Saturday) Do Not Feed The Pigeons, Glendale
It's the law.

20021027 (Sunday) Shopping Cart Parking, Los Angeles
There's a game that goes on in my neighborhood. Maybe yours, too.
People steal shopping carts, presumably to carry home food because they don't have a car.
And then they try to leave them in the most creative places possible.
Here's today's winner in the irony cateogry.

20021028 (Monday) Tarp, Santa Monica
This tarp was covering some stuff between the narrow space between the fence and the building behind.
Looked like suitcases to me.
As usual, I don't understand. But I like the abstract quality of the tarp.

20021029 (Tuesday) Lamp, Los Angeles
O.K., I have a confession to make.
I basically forgot to take a picture this day. I was sick and didn't go out.
When I remembered, it was after dark, so this was all I could manage.

20021030 (Wednesday) Who's Your Buddy Now?, Santa Monica
Little buddy!
Skipper!
Little buddy!
Skipper!

20021031 (Thursday) Halloween Costume, Santa Monica
I was a bicycle for Halloween.
Pretty spiffy costume, isn't it?
